Warrenton Hunt selected as the recipient of the 2026 MFHA Hunting Habitat Conservation Award.
We are honored and delighted to announce that Warrenton Hunt has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 MFHA Hunting Habitat Conservation Award.
This prestigious award recognizes hunts that have made significant and enduring contributions toward the preservation of habitat, biodiversity, open space, and the natural resources that sustain not only mounted hunting with hounds, but the diverse flora and fauna that depend upon these landscapes. The award honors hunts that demonstrate a long-term commitment to conservation through habitat stewardship, land preservation, educational outreach, and partnerships that protect the countryside for future generations.
There is no greater threat to our sport than the loss of hunting land. This recognition reflects Warrenton Hunt’s steadfast commitment to preserving the beautiful countryside in which we are privileged to hunt and ride. It is also a testament to the partnerships and relationships that have been cultivated over many decades throughout our hunt territory.
Most importantly, this award is a tribute to our landowners. Their generosity, trust, and enduring commitment to open space conservation make foxhunting possible and help ensure that these treasured landscapes remain healthy and productive for wildlife, agriculture, and future generations. We are deeply grateful for their continued support and stewardship.
We would also like to recognize and thank Sue Bopp, MFH, Chrissy Gray, MFH, and Matt van der Woude, Huntsman, whose dedication, diligence, and ongoing focus on building and maintaining strong partnerships with our landowners were instrumental in earning this recognition. Their thoughtful work helps preserve not only our hunting country, but also the relationships that are at the heart of Warrenton Hunt.
A special thank you goes to Emily Johnston, who created the outstanding video submission. Emily beautifully captured the essence of Warrenton Hunt’s conservation efforts, our remarkable countryside, and the people who work tirelessly to protect it. We are pleased to share the video HERE …. and make sure to turn up the volume!
This award is a reflection of the collective efforts of our members, landowners, staff, and leadership, all of whom understand that conservation and foxhunting go hand in hand. Together, we are helping to safeguard a landscape and a tradition that we hope will endure for generations to come.
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who played a part in this achievement.
