Warrenton Hunt

135 Years of Foxhunting & Equestrian Events in Fauquier County Virginia.

Help preserve tradition & continue the legacy.

We are a private, subscription-based group offering foxhunting, hunter paces, steeplechasing, and other social activities throughout the year.

During the hunting season, we meet on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings between early September and late March at various fixtures in Fauquier, Culpeper, and Rappahannock counties.

As one of the oldest active fox hunting organizations in the US, we have been embedded in the life of the countryside since 1887.

Because fox hunting requires large expanses of open land, the future of the sport depends on the preservation of the rural landscape. The subscribers of the Warrenton Hunt are deeply appreciative of the gracious hospitality of the farmers and landowners who continue to permit us to ride over their properties.

Values

Mission

Foxhunting is an important tradition that provides many benefits – from preserving open space to encouraging healthy outdoor socializing. By keeping foxhunting alive, we are also supporting farmers, farriers and vets who play an important role in our community. We believe that by preserving agricultural traditions like foxhunting, we can promote a healthier way of life for our citizens and help preserve the unique character of our county.

Vision

We are committed to being a vibrant part of the Fauquier County Community. To achieve this goal, we want to expand our membership to include more of the younger generation.

The Territory

Northern Virginia's piedmont region.

The rural countryside of Fauquier County, Virginia is lovely and picturesque. With rolling hills, horse farms, and quaint small towns, it is easy to see why so many people are drawn to this area.

There is a strong sense of community in the county and a focus on preserving the natural beauty of the landscape. Residents here enjoy a slower pace of life and plenty of opportunities to get outdoors and enjoy all that nature has to offer.

We are deeply grateful to the landowners who graciously continue to allow us access to their properties. Without their support, the future of foxhunting would be in jeopardy. We are committed to doing our part in preserving the rural landscape for future generations.

The Hounds

Our hounds are Crossbred hounds, a cross between Old English Foxhounds and American Foxhounds. They are bred for their hunting abilities and ability to track game. These hounds are known for their athleticism, strength, and stamina. They are also intelligent and easily trainable.

The hounds are taken care of by a professional kennel staff and are given the utmost care and attention. They are fed a high-quality diet, exercised regularly, and receive regular vet care.

We believe that happy, health hounds make for the best hunting companions! That’s why we take great pride in ensuring that our foxhounds are treated with respect and dignity.
